I heard Plan Of Attack on a compilation cd and thought they were pretty good so I got in touch them with an interview, more for myself really as I thought they were cool and found out what i wanted to know and also was sent their back catalouge to review.

Plan Of Attack, from the u.s are getting more recognition from the u.k kids now that they are on a split 7" with Terror and The Promise. they have an album out already and a new one out in june so check them out.
Meanwhile we got in touch with Aaron and Bill from Plan Of Attack and they have helped us out so much!
Here is what Bill of Plan Of Attack had to tell us...

*How and when did P.O.A get together?

B-It actually all started in a basement around 2002. some of us were playing together in a band called TYRANNOSAURUS X and we wanted to start something new.
The original line up was Jeff Stoltz on guitar, John Caution on drums, me (Bill Smiles) on vocals and Liz Panella on bass. at first I was playing guitar and writting a lot of the music with the band, we added A*ROSS like a week before our first show. over the next couple of years, Jeff was replaced by Ryan Wilson (singer for SIDEWALK) and John Caution left and was replaced by Dan. right now, that is our current line up.

*What are P.O.A's main influences?

B-When we started the band, we were all influenced by different types of music. each of us were pretty diverse in our musical tastes... I think that a lot of us were influenced by a lot of bands like: the early Dischord stuff, a lot of new york and boston hardcore bands and maybe a little bit of 80's west coast punk bands like BLACK FLAG and such.

*Were any of you in bands previous to P.O.A that we may have heard of?

B-We were all playing with a lot of other bands previous to Plan Of Attack, but this is the first band to really go anywhere.

*What kind of hardcore would you say you played?

B-Well, i'd say that we're heavily influenced by punk, but our guitars are tuned down lower and we have a heavier sound than the typical punk hardcore band, but at the same time we play extremely fast. we were trying not to sound like anyone else, and so far I think we've managed to pull that off.

*What are some of the bands you have toured/gigged with?

B-Last summer we toured with a band called AMENDMENT 18 from california. it was really cool because members of that band were in a lot of the bands that I listened to when I was younger. they were totally cool guys that I looked up to and the next thing you know, we were on tour together. it was a great experience. besides that, we've played with a lot of bands from our hometown and elsewhere: Terror, The Promise, 9 Shocks Terror, The Cro-Mags, American Nightmare, Strking Distance, Holding On, Modern Life Is War....too many to count.

*Have you toured outside the u.s before?

B-Canada! does that count? ha ha ha. most of the band is in school or works full time besides doing the band. it's hard to get everywhere we want to play sometimes...

*Are you coming to the u.k anytime soon?

B-Right now, we are concentrating on our u.s tour. hopefully something will pan out so that we can go overseas.

*How would you react to violence at on of your shows?

B-We've only had a fight at one of our shows once. I simply told the crowd that if the fight didn't stop, then we were all going home and that we'd never play there again. fighting at shows isn't cool and if it comes down to a position where you feel like you have to fight, it better be for the right reasons and as a last resort. mindless violence is stupid and shouldn't be glorified.

*Any new bands you think are cool that we should know of?

B-SIDEWALK-it's the guitar player and bass player from this band along with some of the past members of this band. they sound a lot like FLOORPUNCH and MENTAL. really good, positive band.

PUNCH IN THE FACE-also from chicago. super fast and angry. remind me of NEGATIVE FX with the guitar sound of early POISON IDEA. probably one of my favourite bands.

THE KILLER-the hardest and toughest band around. hands down. they're on the same label as us and their new record should be out a month after ours.

There's ton's of bands that are amazing right now. most of them happen to be from chicago or the mid-west: GET IT AWAY, NO SLOGAN, I ATTACK, THE REPO'S, 14 OR FIGHT, PEDESTRIANS, THIN THE HEARD, ONCE FOR ALL, LEFT HAND PATH, HAUNTED LIFE, CYCLOPS, THICK AS THEIVES, ANY LAST WORDS, DAMAGE DEPOSIT, STEP ON IT, CARDIAC ARREST and WOUND UP.

*Do you have a band philosophy?

B-Every member of this band is straight edge, but we have never considered ourselves a straight edge band. most of our lyrics deal with frustration, personal struggles, political struggles, etc.

*Anything you would like to add?

B-Starting in the middle of june, we'll be going out on a 36 day tour covering most of the west coast of the united states, the south and the east coast. check www.planofattackhc.com for more details.
